As of this moment we're not exactly sure what happend, but some reports say that David's chain broke when he was just meters from the finish, and he went down hard and had finish on his own.

The look on his face was heart breaking. He had just done a long pull and he looked kind of shaky when he starting dropping back. My guess is maybe he was a little scatter-brained and touched wheels. The rider behind (Roberts?) had to make a tremendous move to not hit him. It was still a great ride for CSC. All in all its probably something of a good thing since it will let CSC concentrate on the mountains more than keeping the yellow jersey.

All of that is probably true, but its not how I would have hoped it went and I'm sure he would agree. I think he could have kept it (the jersery) a couple more days, oh well. Now the pressure is on Discovery, and personally, I hope it makes they're job thougher.

At this point I of course wouldn't bet against Armstrong winning number 7, but I hope at least for SOME kind of battle in the coming weeks and not just another "Lance in France" snooz fest.

Let's hope some of the other teams can do something.

I agree that'd it be nice if this year was more competitive than year's past.

I think Bjarne Riis will have some tricks up his sleeves for Sunday's stage 9 when the mountains start. Or atleast if I was the team manager I'd go out hard early for that stage, even more so since the next day is a rest day transfer. Discovery isn't going to let CSC get any guys out for a break but nothing is going to happen if they don't challenge. Send Sastre out.

Maybe all that crack I smoke is affecting my judgement.
